....It took a nuclear explosion, a knee-full of shrapnel, and a broken helicopter to get a break.
Fang was finally going home.
He really couldn't remember exactly when he had been found, but after extensive fallout purification, he was finally taking a break. Six long months of relaxation and peace. Plus nobody shooting at him was a nice bonus.
He sighed.
If only they had let me bring back a Flashbang, or a Berring 50 cal....
He exited the plane, looking around. He headed home.
His house. broken window, paint slightly peeled off, and TP'd...he missed halloween.
But it was home.
He entered, jumping through the window, remembered he was on official leave, then calmed down.
No one here, no one shooting at him, no squadmates to back him up.
It suddenly dawned on him how quiet it was.

Sun was walking down an old, beat-up path in the forest surprisingly not far away from her house, old house.
So am I back where I started? she accusingly asked herself.
No, you aren't. Your a far, far way than where you started. a voice replied from the back of her head.
Then what do I do?
Run.
Suddenly there were lights everywhere. Sun flicked her red fox ear behind her. She could hear vehicles approaching.
She ran.

He went outside. No need to spoil a good day.
He sighed, not really wanting to go anywhere.
It was amazing what war could do to a person. He looked around, expecting anyone and everyone to be a possible enemy. He sighed.
Get ahold of yourself. No one here is going to kill you.
He wandered aimlessly towards the city outskirts.
He looked at the forest.
maybe use a fern, if I could have a couple hours to build a ghillie suit...
He shook the thoughts out of his head.
This was going to be harder than he thought.

Sun dodged between branches, some slapping her in the face. Her tail came out, and without it she would have probably lost her balence by now. She jumped over a log and slid to a stop next to a huge rock. She scrambled next to it and crouched down, her ears back and her face covered with her hands. Her tail curled neatly around her.

Fang stopped.
The unmistakeable sound of moving branches. and other movement too.
He took a look around and saw someone next to a rock.
ooooookay.....
He slowly started to walk away.

Sun blinked. The unmistakable scent of human was around her. She flicked her ears as some bushes moved somewhere behind her.
The cops? No, they would have found her already.
She could smell war on this human. Experience.
Bombs.
Her eyes grew wide. Her fox ears and tail disappeared. She crawled farther behind the rock. She saw the human.
Here was the decision: Fight or Flee.

Dangit, I knew I should have brought a handgun back with me....
She was staring at him. Alright, split decision thinking. Er, what to do, what to do...
...I got nothing.....I'll just ....say hi, I guess....

Sun laughed. This human was no threat. She tipped her head to the side and studied this human.

Well, I could use a HE grenade, so long as I take out the shrapnel, the noise should give me enough time..
Fang slowly took the grenade out of his pocket, then cursed silently. This was not the standard army-issue grenade, just a S.W.A.T. grenade.
Might as well pulled out a flamethrower and point it at her....
Then he noticed. was that...a tail?

Sun's eyes opened wide. A.. granade?
She noticed he hesitated.
"Put.that.away. Now." her claws slid out.
She noticed a tree next to him that was swaying; it would fall any minute now.
It never hurts to have a backup plan...

"Fine." He put it back. Again, he stared at the tail.
....Wait, there was a word for animal hybrids....neko? can't remember....I should have payed more attention back as an operative of the S.O.C.P.
He sighed, this was getting boring.
Think! make small talk so you can get out of here faster.
"...so....uh, my name's Fang. What's yours?"

The words slid out before Sun had time to think. The air was vibrating with tension.
Did I just say what I think I said?
Yes.
She waited for him to reply.

I've got to stop rambling. And get to the point.
"So, why are you here? shouldn't you be at your house, and not huddled next to a rock?"
She could live at the forest. I should have thought of that before.
"Or, is there a reason why you can't go back to your house?"

Awkward the voice inside Sun suddenly got louder.
Let me do the talking.
"How do you know I need help."
It wasn't a question, yet not a statement.
Whoa whoa whoa. This is getting rediculous. This guy could be loaded with weapons, and I got [u]nothing.
He could be, but he isn't. Just a few grenades.[/i]

Great, now I'm being Interrogated. I had enough of that from Insurgents...
"I already told you my name. again, it's Fang, I, uh, live a couple miles over there, and I'm not in it because I felt like taking a walk, since I'm on official leave."
well, there's also..
"And I broke the window entering it." he admitted sheepishly.
I told you to stop rambling! she could be a Opfor spy!

Sun noticed this 'Fang' look nervous for a second, then it dissapeared.
Maybe he had enough weapons...
Or maybe not.
I didn't ask you, now did I?

Whatever. Look, now he thinks you were hitting on him.
So maybe I should just leave, then.
"I am not a spy."
she spotted movement in the bushes beside Fang.
Great, someones stalking me now.
She smelled cat-human. Neko? Same difference.
"Are.. are you being stalked?" she changed the subject, keeping an eye on the bushes.

Sun could see a glint of green eyes, then nothing.
They were getting nowhere.
"Are you sure no ones stalking you?"
She noticed a barking dog.
